Dhruti PEERS Activity with Hindustan College of Arts and Science

On February 6, 2026, the campus of Hindustan College of Arts and Science (HCAS) buzzed with a different kind of energy—one centered on mindfulness, empathy, and emotional release. The Dhruti PEERS (Peer Engagement for Emotional Resilience & Support) team successfully hosted a day of impactful mental health activities, reaching over 300 students.

Highlights of the Day

The event was structured into three core activities, each designed to address a different facet of mental wellness.

🎨 The Bookmark Activity & Wall of Positivity

Venue: Psychology Department Lab | Impact: 120 Students

The morning began with a visual celebration of hope. Under the guidance of the PEERS team, students created personalized bookmarks featuring mental health quotes and creative reflections.

The Result: A vibrant Wall of Positivity filled with collective voices, symbolizing that no student is alone in their journey.

🎈 The “Letting Go” Activity

Focus: Emotional Release | Impact: 120 Students

To move forward, one must often leave behind what weighs them down. In this symbolic exercise, students identified a negative emotion—guided by a structured chart—and wrote it onto a balloon.

The Act: Bursting the balloons served as a powerful physical metaphor for releasing stress, anxiety, and negativity, fostering a sense of immediate emotional relief.

🤝 Knowing PEERS: Building Connection

Focus: Empathy & Communication | Impact: 60 Students

The afternoon shifted toward interpersonal growth. Students paired up to discuss the unique challenges facing college youth today. This session emphasized non-judgmental listening and compassion.

Each pair identified:

  • A commonality that bonded them
  • A difference they respected
  • A positive quality they admired in their peer
