Dhruti PEERS Activity with Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science

Dhruti PEERS Students of Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science (AMCAS) conducted mental health related activities in their college on October 10, 2025, the World Mental Health Day.

The activities started at 10:00 a.m. by placing the Dhruti World Mental Health Day Campaign Poster titled “Wall of Positivity” in an open area near the cafeteria and ground. PEERS encouraged students to write their thoughts, awareness messages or inspiring quotes about mental health on the board. Additionally, PEERS distributed handwritten quotes and bookmarks to participants. Students write about mental health in their own words on the bookmarks and placed them on the board. The activity saw enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty. More than 100 students stopped by the Wall and conveyed their thoughts. It was a great opportunity for students to openly discuss and describe mental health!

In the second activity, the PEERS conducted interactive classroom sessions with students from the Psychology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and English departments. PEERS designed and cut-out emoticons, and asked participants to connect real-life situations to specific emotions and discuss healthy ways to manage negative feelings.

They also gave students sticky notes to write down any challenges or concerns they had—an exercise aimed at encouraging self-expression and journaling as tools for emotional well-being.

The activities concluded around 1:00 p.m., displaying all the sticky notes on the campaign board as a symbol of the collective voices and experiences of the students.

The Dhruti PEERS Program Team led by Ms. Kalpa Jagannadan and Ms. Jaya Venkatesh thoroughly enjoyed working with the AMCAS PEERS to support them in this activity. Our Kudos to the AMCAS PEERS and sincere thanks to Ms. Shanti, AMCAS Principal and Mr. Rajkumar, the AMCAS Psychology Department HOD for their continued support.
